A Note From Paul
Growing up in Ashland was the ideal childhood experience – fishing and boating in the summer, jumping in piles of leaves in the fall, and throwing snowballs and skiing in the winter. Economic opportunities were plentiful, and social problems like homelessness, violent crime, and addiction were scarce.
Times have changed.
I’m running for Congress because we need more successful businessmen like Donald Trump and Ron Johnson to shake up the status quo and revitalize our communities.
I’m looking forward to earning your support. Together, we’ll make Northern Wisconsin and America great again.

About Paul
Paul Wassgren is a fifth-generation Ashland resident and comes from a large family with relatives throughout Ashland, Bayfield, Douglas, Iron, and Marathon Counties. Paul is a devout Catholic and keeps his faith as the highest priority. His education began at Wilmarth Elementary School in Ashland in the 1980s, and concluded at Oxford University in England, where he earned an MBA and a law degree with honors. Along the way, Paul graduated first in his high school class and completed a four-year undergraduate degree in Economics in just two years at Pepperdine University, a conservative Christian college, again serving as Valedictorian of his class.
While still in high school, Paul became one of the youngest licensed stock and bond brokers in U.S. history, passing the New York Stock Exchange General Securities Licensing Exam (Series 7) at age 17. His love of finance and business didn’t stop there. After law school, Paul began his career as a corporate attorney, representing entrepreneurs and business owners as they built companies and created jobs. His practice took him all over the world, including engagements in Australia, Asia, Europe, and numerous cities throughout the U.S.
As an associate attorney, Paul was seconded by a well-known defense contractor, and worked on a U.S. Air Force base. Paul made partner at the national law firm of Fox Rothschild LLP at age 33. He later joined DLA Piper LLP, one of the largest global law firms, as an equity partner. In 2020, Paul launched his own firm, and continues to advocate for his business clients, serve on corporate boards, and provide counsel to family offices.
After the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, Paul focused his work on Qualified Opportunity Zones (QOZ). He was regularly invited to speak at national conferences and appear on television and podcasts to promote the QOZ program, which was a key achievement of the first Trump Administration. Paul served on the national finance committee for President Trump’s 2020 re-election.
His love for Wisconsin and his commitment to revitalizing the Northland inspired him to run for Congress and serve the people of the 7th Congressional District.
Issues

Creating Economic Opportunity
Paul has championed Opportunity Zones and worked closely with President Trump’s team to expand economic growth across the country during his first term. Growing up in the shadow of his family’s cheese factory in Bayfield County, Paul knows firsthand how economic opportunity builds strong communities – and in Congress, he’ll work with President Trump to revitalize Northern Wisconsin.
Fighting Back Against Lawfare
Our judicial system has been weaponized by bad actors looking to settle scores and make money. In Congress, Paul will fight back against lawfare that has targeted President Trump, raised costs on millions of Americans, and made our state and our country less competitive.

Building Stronger Communities
Social problems like addiction, homelessness, and violent crime have become far too common in our country and even in the Seventh Congressional District. We need to get to the root causes of these problems by cracking down on illegal immigration and drug smuggling, fostering strong communities, and building on President Trump’s America First Agenda to make Wisconsin and America Great Again!
Protecting Our Outdoor Heritage
Paul grew up in Northern Wisconsin fishing, boating, shooting guns, and enjoying the beautiful outdoors. He’ll protect farmers and landowners, fight government overreach that limits our freedom, and stand up for the Second Amendment.
